So who are At Sunset...?|
|ABOUT AT SUNSET|
AT SUNSET features brothers Harrison and Andrew Kantarias, and their good mate Tom Jay Williams. Originating in Adelaide Australia, the trio came together with two things in common: their love of music and their enthusiasm for the fun things in life.
The name says it all: “The name is a metaphor for our feelings towards music. We like to be upbeat, positive, and really just enjoying life. Playing music, sunsets, beaches, pools, girls in bikinis... it doesn’t get better than that, does it?” Harrison reflects.
In the two years since making an online presence, the band have amassed well over 5 million views on YouTube; 300,000 combined Twitter followers; one million Facebook likes; and an ever increasing army of fans globally. In 2014, At Sunset finished a promotional tour of the USA, performing to a sell out crowd at the CINCO 2 festival in Los Angeles and the Mall of America.
With all this in the works, At Sunset certainly aren’t resting - having recently been announced Nova FM’s Fresh Discovery which included a deal with Warner Music Australia and a mentoring session with Ed Sheeran. Later in 2015, At Sunset were announced as the first ever Australia and New Zealand MTV BRAND NEW winner, following incredible support by their fans in the social media competition.
The release of At Sunset’s debut single ‘Every Little Thing’ put them on the map with international acts, having performed alongside the likes of Boyce Avenue at the Nickelodeon SLIMEFEST tour, touring Australia to support R5 and Jack & Jack in early 2016, and a massive Allphones Arena show opening for The Vamps in Sydney. The band will also be making their Philippines debut in February 2016, opening for good friends Boyce Avenue in Manila.
In January 2016, At Sunset released their new single 'Kiss Me' and further announced their Kiss Me Australian National Tour for March 2016. It has also been announced that At Sunset have been nominated for the 2016 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards category of 'Favourite Pop Sensation AU/NZ'.
With new music in the works and live performances planned for the band, get strapped in tight for the ride of your lives. At Sunset are gearing up for the year ahead – you’re not going to want to miss it!
Harrison Kantarias sings and plays guitar, but which came first? The guitar. At 7 years old, Harrison fell in love with music after picking up the guitar for the first time. As he got older, that love of music grew with him, and while school was a priority, music remained just as important to him as well, leading to guitar lessons in a class of 10 other kids. Kissed with a natural talent for the guitar, Harrison outgrew his peers and moved on to private one on one lessons, and eventually, grew out of those lessons as well, as he learned how to write songs on his own. The 11th year of school was Harrison’s final year of studying music in a formal setting. He was graded on his musical ability while learning KISS and George Michael covers with different school bands he was in. Playing guitar wasn’t enough for him as he gradually began experimenting with his vocal ability. Starting out, Harrison discovered how difficult singing can be. After finding a vocal coach, who saw great potential in Harrison, he worked hard to improve his vocals. His passion for music led him to soak up everything he knows now, from his vocal instructor. To test the waters and build his confidence, Harrison auditioned for musicals and after his first musical performance, he got bit by the performance bug, and Harrison now shares his passion for life and music on stage, with anyone who will listen.
Andrew Kantarias made his performance debut in 2004 after auditioning for a world-renowned play, “The Ring Cycle” (the play travels globally and came to perform in 2004 in Adelaide, Australia). Successfully winning over the casting directors, Andrew was accepted into the cast as the lead chorus member. The following year, in 2005, Andrew enrolled in the performing arts department at Kings Baptist Grammar School, which led to his performing in various musicals (“Cat in the Hat” and “The Wizard of Oz”). Andrew’s experience in these musicals led to the discovery for his passion in singing and playing musical instruments (namely the drums and piano). That passion led to vocal, piano, and drum lessons for the following 6 years that helped him become a pivotal member of At Sunset today.
Tom Jay Williams joined the school choir after his first solo performance in front of his entire school at Immanuel College. That led to taking lessons in vocal, drum, and piano. Following his love of music and performing, Tom performed in a local production of Disney's "High School Musical" at thirteen years old. In 2008, Tom came to national attention as the youngest ever TOP TEN FINALIST on Australian Idol. It is few and far between for most performers of Tom’s age and demographic who can be as naturally engaging and charismatic with their talent, on or off stage, as Tom. In 2009, Tom opened for John Farnham (Australian Pop Music & Television Star). In 2010, Tom appeared with Shannon Noll (Runner Up of Australian Idol 1st Season), Stan Walker (Winner of Australian Idol 7th Season), and Jessica Mauboy (Runner Up of Australian Idol 4th Season), at the Clipsal 500 V8 Carnival in a bill dubbed “THE IDOLS”. Following that performance in 2011, Tom performed at “THE IDOL FACTOR” with James Johnston (3rd Place Finalist Australian Idol 7th Season), Joel Turner (Record Producer “These Kids”), and Hayley Teal (X-FACTOR AUSTRALIA). Finally, in 2013, before joining At Sunset, Tom opened for global sensation 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER during their Adelaide show on June 6th. The journey continues for Tom, as he is the newest member of At Sunset, officially being announced into the band publicly on March 26th 2014, sending Australian and international social media into overdrive.
